Get a first look at Money Monster, directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
After a quiet 2015 (let’s forget about Tomorrowland), George Clooney wants to make 2016 a good year. Hail, Caesar! (February) and Money Monster (May) have the potential to succeed at the box office, but to us, it doesn’t really matter as it’s just nice to see George Clooney back on the big screen. As for Julia Roberts, she’s also looking for a good 2016 as she also has Mother’s Day (April), which has a pretty solid cast.
Synopsis: In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.
Fun fact: The screenplay for this film was featured in the 2014 Blacklist; a list of the “most liked” unmade scripts of the year.
