Point Break Advance Screening Contests – In theatres December 25, 2015

A young FBI agent infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists. Point Break is inspired by the classic 1991 hit.

Yes, you read that title right. We all remember the 1991 classic Point Break, right? Instead of calling it a reboot, a remake or whatever you want to call it, they decided to use the word, “inspired”. How creative of them.

After watching the trailer, I must say, visually, this is going to look great. But overall, it’s going to be a dud and a major disaster at the box office.

Fun facts: Probably one of the most interesting fun facts so far. Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, and Garrett Hedlund were considered for the role of Bodhi. Gerard Butler ended up being casted, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. It doesn’t end here though. Taylor Kitsch, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chris Pine, Chris Pratt, and Sam Claflin were considered for the role of Johnny Utah.

There are a lot of big names there, so what gives? This film could have potentially been huge with the right actors and they need it to be huge when you have a budget of $100 million. That’s a lot of money for a film with no real known actors. Maybe they should’ve have spent less money on the CGI and more on the actors. I mean, the fact that Gerard Butler was actually casted already spilled disaster all over this “inspiration”.
